Dr. Pavel Vrba is the R&D, Science and Technology Manager at Foxconn 4Tech, subsidiary of Foxconn CZ, Czech Republic. He is responsible for designing and developing innovative products and solutions in Industrial IOT and Smart Factories. Pavel Vrba worked as an associate professor at the Czech Technical University in Prague, where he led the Intelligent Systems for Industry group aiming at research and development of intelligent control solutions for smart factories, smart grids and smart cities (2012-2016). He worked for the Rockwell Automation Research Center in Prague (2001-2012) where he led the Distributed Intelligent Control lab (2005-2012) aiming at enhancing the classical PLC-based real-time control systems with the artificial intelligence techniques. His main research interests are in concepts and technologies related with the Industry 4.0 initiative such as Cyber physical systems, Internet of Things, Big and Linked data, Predictive Analytics, and others. Dr. Vrba has published more than ninety conference papers, journal articles and book chapters related to his research area (Web of Science h-index: 12) and five filed U.S. patents. Dr. Vrba co-chairs the Technical Committee on Intelligent Industrial Systems within the IEEE System, Man, and Cybernetics Society and is member of the Technical Committee on Industrial Agents (Vice-chair in 2009-2011) and the Technical Committee on Smart Grids within the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society.
